Have you ever been inside of an old jail? Have you ever been inside a building that’s over 200 years old? Our class did those two things and much more on our trip to Oconee County Courthouse and Eagle Tavern. We were able to see firsthand how our local government works as well as appreciate the changes in our community from its beginnings.

What was your favorite part of the trip? What part will you never forget?

My favorite thing about our field trip is that we got to go to the Eagle Tavern and went in it and got to go up very steep steps. We saw a lot of old fashion stuff. We even saw the beds they slept on.

My favorite place was the Eagle Tavern. I liked it because it had a bunch of old stuff like tobacco rolls and animal skins. The part I will never forget were the steep steps.

My favorite thing was the jail because we got run around and act like we were prisoners. The thing that I will never forget is we got to scream.

My favorite thing was the Eagle Tavern. When you first walk in there is a tradeing post. It was used for a general store. The next room was a eating room. There were 2 tables and a bar. Then you had to go up really tall stairs . If you were there you would think you would fall down. When you first walk upstairs there is a sewing room, which was really supposed to be in a little house out back. Then the room beside it had beds and a cooling bed in the middle. That’s why I liked the Eagle Tavern.

The feild trip to Walkisville was exciting! My favorite part was the old jail. I will never ever forget the jail! I like the jail beacause it was old and rusty. We got to act like real criminals! We got to go behind the bars where once real criminals were! After the field trip, we went to the park! At the park we ran around and ate our lunches. After the park we went back to school and went home. That was our feild trip.

My favorite part on the field trip is going in the jail.It was scary to go to a part in the back. Everybody was screaming and running. The teachers told us not to. We could not help it. There in the back was a window and if you turn around from the window there is a wall. You cant see in it just a little. We herd bangs and some body in there say chase chase. My sister went in alone and the thing in the wall said kim. I went back there and I heard a bang and I ran. That was the last time I went in because we had to go after I went out.I will never forget this because It was my first time to see a jail.

On the field trip we went to old jail. They let us go in the cages. It was fun. Something was banging on the wall. It was funny and creepy.
